School Chests

The American Red
Cross School Chest
Project teaches
students about being
members of a larger,
global community
through direct action.  Students collect school supplies necessary to outfit a classroom including:

Paper Notebooks
Pencils Crayons
Chalk Games for recess

The collected supplies are packaged together in a large portable chest and sent to an international community recovering from disaster or crisis.

Students from

Convent of the Sacred Heart
Riverside Elementary
Parkway Elementary
Greenwich Academy

                                 have already collected supplies
for the school chests this past Fall. Other interested schools are looking to complete them in Spring of 2001. The chests will be shipped around the world to classrooms in communities where the American Red Cross has a presence including the Balkans, Central America, the Caribbean and Africa.

Student volunteers are valuable assets to this program.  Middle and high school students are welcomed to participate and help organize this program with school and other community organizations.
