Service to the Armed Forces

The American Red Cross has its roots as an organization formed to provide aid to soldiers and others affected by war. Our service to military personnel and their families continues today, with Red Cross assistance for emergency communications, financial aid and counseling services, among others. Red Cross workers are always nearby, in local chapters or at military installations around the world, ready to help those who serve our country. For assistance, call 1-877-272-7337, 24 hours a day.

International Services
The American Red Cross is part of the international Red Cross and Red Crescent Society - a worldwide movement dedicated to relieving human suffering. With our partner societies around the world, we help to support emergency disaster relief, improve basic living conditions and empower people with the skills they need to help themselves. We also use our international network to help reunite families separated by war, national conflict or disaster.

Blood - The Gift of Life
Each year the Red Cross collects more than 155,000 units of blood, which is turned into life saving products supplied to 31 hospitals and transfusing facilities across Connecticut. Each unit of blood can save up to three lives. Volunteers help to staff blood drives and more than 100,000 people generously give The Gift of Life in Connecticut each year. To donate blood, call 1-800-GIVE LIFE (1-800-448-3543) or visit www.bloodct.org.
