Financial
Contributions
The American Red Cross is an independent, non-profit
organization that relies primarily on the generosity of
the American people for support. The Red Cross is
not a government agency; voluntary contributions are the
key to our ability to respond.
A financial
contribution enables the us to help those in need every
day of the year when help is needed most. Contributions
may be sent to your local Red
Cross chapter. Also, talk to your local chapter about
other types of giving, such as gifts of stock, real
estate, and memorial gifts and other planned giving
opportunities.
Volunteering
The very foundation of the American Red Cross is based on
voluntary work. As the largest humanitarian
organization in the United States, the Red Cross depends
on volunteers to accomplish its mission: providing relief
to victims of disasters and helping people prevent,
prepare for, and respond to emergencies. Today, nearly 1.4
million people volunteer with the Red Cross nationwide.
Your
help is needed in many different areas. These could
include: teaching health and safety courses, volunteering
at blood drives, being a member of a chapter's Disaster Action
Team, helping with the clerical work at the chapter house,
serving on a chapter's Board of Directors, and many more. Please,
contact your local chapter
for more information.
