The American Red Cross helps people everyday to prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies and disasters and provides relief to victims of disaster when it occurs. There are many ways we do this:

We help people prevent emergencies through health and safety education that includes swimming lessons and lifeguard training. We provide vital blood and blood products that help people get well in the face of life threatening accidents and illnesses. We also offer classes that help people care for each other.

We provide lots of information, showing you how to prepare for and stay safe during disasters and emergencies, too, including first aid & CPR training.

When a disaster strikes, the American Red Cross is on the scene to respond to immediate emergencies affecting people who have been impacted by fire, flooding, weather-related problems, or other circumstances. Through the generosity of donated financial contributions, we provide short-term and immediate needs that people have for food, shelter, and basic necessities.

In all our work, the American Red Cross provides the human touch. We are the place where people help each other with their immediate emergency needs.
