Disaster Training Classes

 

The American Red Cross, Milford Chapter is pleased to provide disaster training classes.  These classes are offered at no charge and are held at the Milford Chapter, 1 Plymouth Place, Milford, CT.  
 
Introduction to Disaster Services

A video based course that will introduce you to the types and impacts of disasters, the community response, and the role of the Red Cross.  This course is a prerequisite for further American Red Cross disaster service training.  You only need to attend one class.
 
Mass Care, An Overview

A video based course that focuses on the activities of the Mass Care function on a disaster relief operation and the services provided by this function.  Prerequisite:  Introduction to Disaster Services
 
Shelter Operations

A video based course that prepares Red Cross and other agencies' staff to effectively and sensitively manage shelter operations as a team, and to meet the needs of people displaced as a result of a disaster.  Prerequisite:  Mass Care, An Overview
 
Damage Assessment                              
Call the Chapter for information (203) 874-2531
This course teaches the fundamentals of damage assessment and information required by the Red Cross with surveying a disaster area, identifying damage, and estimate livability of dwellings.  Prerequisite:  Introduction to Disaster Services
