HEALTH & SAFETY SERVICES TRAINING SCHEDULE

January through June 2001

 

Health and Safety Course Registration

Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. Pre-registration is required for all classes (cash or check payable to the American Red Cross). The Chapter House hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30am and 4:30pm. It is recommended that the book be read prior to the start of class. No phone reservations will be accepted. All students MUST bring their receipt for entrance to each class.

**BOOKS ARE NOT INCLUDED IN CLASS REGISTRATION COST**

 

Community CPR

Learn how to reduce the risk of injury or death by properly recognizing breathing and cardiac emergencies and administering the appropriate CPR measures to victims of all ages. Learn when and how to use the emergency medical system, and how to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Successful completion of course requirements results in certification of Community CPR.

Adult CPR Only can be taken the first night of either the Workplace Training or Community CPR class; OR Sat. classes from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Infant/Child CPR Only can be taken the beginning of the CT Child Care class from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

 

CT Child Care

Teaches adults to administer First Aid and Infant/Child CPR, prevent injuries, and recognize communicable diseases in children. Meets state training requirements for family and center day care staff; also appropriate for parents, grandparents, and child care givers. Upon successful completion, students will receive both Infant/Child and Connecticut Child Care certificates.

Pet First Aid

This course will provide the knowledge and skills needed to help keep your cat or dog safe during an emergency, until you can take your pet to a veterinarian. The course will review symptoms and care for common ailments and emergencies, and tips on maintaining your pet's health and well being.

Babysitting

The purpose of the American Red Cross Babysitter's Training course is to provide individuals, ages 11 to 15 with the information and skills necessary to provide safe and responsible care for children in the absence of parents or adult guardians. This training will help participants develop skills in five critical areas: leadership, safety and safe play, basic care, first aid and professionalism.
