HIV/AIDS Education

The American Red Cross, working
in partnership
with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention,

  • educates people on how to stop the transmission of HIV,
  • encourages people to respond in informed ways to people who have HIV,
  • & helps people apply the facts of HIV to their own behavior.

These goals are accomplished through our educational programs.

The Greenwich Chapter offers the following HIV/AIDS education programs:

Ø      BASIC HIV/AIDS Education Program:

Our basic HIV/AIDS Program uses fact-based discussion to reinforce information about HIV transmission and prevention, dispel myths about HIV and AIDS, and help participants learn from their own experiences and those of others. Activities encourage people to apply the facts to their own behaviors.

Ø      HIV/AIDS Education Programs for Youth:

All of the American Red Cross HIV/AIDS programs provide opportunities for reaching youth. The American Red Cross approach involves providing age-appropriate HIV/AIDS education from an early age through adolescence and young adulthood.
