March for Measles

Members of the Greenwich Chapter's Youth Services Council raised $4,500 for the national Measles Initiative on Sunday, April 25, during "March for Measles," a 5k walk at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park.

All proceeds will continue to implement life saving mass measles vaccination campaigns across Sub-Saharan Africa over the next four years. To date, 14 million children have been vaccinated in Kenya. Over the last 12 months the Measles partnership has already vaccinated 40 million children with the intentions to vaccinate 200 million. It is estimated that 1.5 million African children will be saved.

The Youth Council would like to thank all who supported the initiative and extend a special thank you to Threads & Treads, Chillybear, Greenwich High School Home Economics students, Fred N. Durante, Jr., and the Arch Street Teen Center.
