From San Diego to New York City, Red Cross nurse volunteers provided free blood pressure screenings to people visiting the I Run This Health & Wellness Tour promoting TNT’s second season of HawthoRNe.
The medical drama, starring Jada Pinkett Smith as chief nursing officer Christina Hawthorne, is presented from the nurses’ perspective. So Red Cross nurses readily agreed to join TNT for the multi-city tour promoting healthier lifestyles.
“Red Cross nurses conducted health screenings, provided lifesaving health and safety tips and answered individual questions from HawthoRNe fans,” says American Red Cross Chief Nurse Sharon Stanley.
Jada Pinkett Smith is a longtime Red Cross supporter who has given both time and money to the American National Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and to her local Red Cross chapter in Santa Monica, California.
Most recently, Smith’s television drama HawthoRNe, established a $10,000 matching Facebook Cause grant that has been successfully reached. Now at more than 82,000 members, people are still invited to join the official American Red Cross Facebook Cause.
About the American Red Cross:
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies nearly half of the nation's blood; teaches lifesaving skills; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
