Disaster Instructor Specialty Training
Length: 16 hours/ 2 days | Course Code: ARC 3090

Disaster Instructor Speciality Training (DIST) is an instructor-led course designed to enhance and refine the presentation skills of instructor candidates for basic level disaster courses. This learning experience consists of a series of brief presentations and interactive discussions focused on the instructional techniques, course structure and delivery methods required to meet the diverse learning needs of disaster course participants. Instructor candidates will enhance their skills through practice teaching in a model classroom environment with feedback and coaching provided by qualified DIST instructors. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a recommendation for application to become a basic disaster instructor.

Prerequisites:

Fundamentals of Instruction and Facilitation (FIF)

     o This is a self-study course. Please see your nearest branch or chapter for a DVD and course materials.

·         Completion of the basic course that you which to teach.

             o Please take at least 3 basic courses before participating in DIST.

·         Operational knowledge and experience in the subject of the course you intend to teach. You need to be able to convey the concepts, principles and procedures.

·          Completion of the 5898h form.

o Available on CROSSNET or through your closest branch or chapter.
