Completion of this Instructor-Level training results in authorization to teach First Aid/CPR/AED for the Workplace, Schools & Community, Blended Learning First Aid/CPR/AED, First Aid - Responding to Emergencies and Sports Safety Training.

A critical phase of the Instructor Course is the Precourse Session. During this session, you will be tested on skills and knowledge. To continue the Instructor Course it is necessary to pass written tests as well as skills demonstrations. Those who do not pass the Precourse Session will not continue in the Instructor Course and refunds will not be issued.

Lifeguard Instructor

To train instructor candidates to teach basic-level Lifeguarding, Waterfront Lifeguarding*, Waterpark Lifeguarding* and Shallow Water Attendant (all including first aid), Lifeguard Management, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Administering Emergency Oxygen, Bloodborne Pathogens Training: Preventing Disease Transmission and Basic Water Rescue courses. Instructor candidates also will become familiar with GuardStart: Lifeguarding Tomorrow and the Water Safety presentations.

Fundamentals of Instructor Training Certificate issued within the last year or possess a current national Health and Safety Services Instructor Authorization Certificate.

Prerequisites

Be at least 17 years of age on or before the last scheduled day of the instructor course.

Possess a current American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid certificate or have successfully completed a Red Cross Lifeguarding (full or review course) or another acceptable lifeguarding course within the last four years.**

Successfully complete the precourse session. This includes passing the precourse written exam with a score of 80 percent or higher for each of the three sections and demonstrating competency in the precourse skills and scenarios evaluation.

This course is for individuals who hold either a current lifeguard certificate or a lifeguard certificate that has expired within the past one year.

This course will renew your Lifeguarding & CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certifications.

Students must be able to show proof of completion of lifeguarding to attend this class.

Spanish - language Connecticut Child Care

Teaches participants Infant and Child CPR and how to administer first aid, prevent injuries and recognize communicable diseases in children. Meets the State of Connecticut training requirements for family and daycare staff. This course is also appropriate for parents, grandparents, and child care givers. Upon completion, students will receive both Infant/Child CPR and Connecticut Child Care certificates.
