Health & Safety Services
Background
The American Red Cross has provided health and safety services to people for more than 85 years as part of the organization's mission of emergency prevention and preparedness.

The Red Cross is a recognized provider of first aid, CPR, aquatics and water safety, HIV/AIDS prevention education, mission-related care giving, and other health and safety education programs.  Programs are developed in collaboration with experts from the fields of medicine and aquatics and reflect up-to-date information and techniques.

Red Cross chapters may offer the following additional health and safety services:

  • First aid stations at public events
  • HIV/AIDS education
  • Prenatal education
  • Blood pressure screening, referral, and follow-up
  • Back injury prevention and stress management at the workplace
  • Health care training
  • Home health aid training
  • Babysitter training
  • Training for child care providers
  • Boating safety courses
