ARE YOU READY TO SAVE A LIFE?
American Red Cross First Aid, CPR and AED courses are designed to help you learn valuable lifesaving skills. We translate the consensus of medical science into practical, easy-to-understand information.
 
Programs are available for any age group and can be tailored to the needs of specific groups and individuals. Whether you simply want to know how to help in an emergency, work with children, want training for employees, or are a professional rescuer, the Connecticut Regional Chapter of the American Red Cross has a program for you. Click here for a complete listing of courses.

DAY CARE PROVIDERS
Does your staff need training that meets the State of Connecticut training requirements for family and center day care providers? The American Red Cross can help. The Connecticut Child Care Course teaches individuals how to administer first aid and infant and Child CPR, prevent injuries and recognize childhood communicable diseases.
 
PROFESSIONAL RESCUERS
Our Professional Rescuer Courses are designed for people who have a job-related duty to respond in an emergency. This includes nurses, law enforcement and EMS personnel, fire fighters, business and industry response teams, lifeguards, flight attendants and others who must take action in emergency situations.
 
COURSES FOR YOUTH
  • Babysitter's Training provides children aged 11 to 15 with the information and skills necessary to provide safe and responsible care for children in the absence of parents of adult guardians. The training will help participants develop skills in five critical areas: leadership, safety and safe play, basic care, first aid and professionalism.
  • First Aid for Children Today (FACT) - This course is designed to help children aged five to eight understand the important role they have in managing their own health & safety as well as the health of the environment in which they live. Instructor authorization is not required to teach FACT. Individuals interested in teaching FACT must purchase the FACT Leadership Kit, available at our Red Cross Store
  • Basic Aid Training (BAT) - The purpose of this course is to introduce children aged eight to 12 safety information and first aid procedures for breathing difficulties, bleeding, poisoning, burns, shock and other emergencies. Instructor authorization is not required to teach BAT. Individuals interested in teaching this course must purchase the BAT Instructor's Manual and BAT Participant's Manual, available at our Red Cross Store.

Each year the American Red Cross teaches valuable lifesaving skills to nearly 12 million people but we can't do it alone. We need your help because you have a gift you can give others... your time, your knowledge, your experience.
 
In order to become an instructor you must be trained and certified in the course you which to teach and also to have passed the Red Cross Fundamentals of Instructor Training course. Special requirements may apply for instruction in certain classes. For more information on becoming a Volunteer Instructor, contact our Volunteer Resources team.
